Law on Waste Management.

The purpose of this Act, which consists of 23 articles, is to set provisions regarding optimal management of waste and reduce its harmful effects in order to protect the environment. The Standard Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Health shall set standards for the quality of recycled materials and products. The officials may hand over the collecting, sorting and disposal of urban waste to private sectors. In each region, the appropriate place for the disposal of waste shall be determined with the cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture. The mix of hospital and medical waste with household waste is prohibited. Any trans-boundary transhipment of waste shall be in compliance with the International Convention of Basel. The Department of Environment is the responsible authority to follow the regulations of this Act.
