Abstract
This Regulation contains minimum requirements for the welfare of sheep and goats. Its objective is to ensure the welfare and good health of all sheep and goats through the provision of good treatment, care and living conditions. The Regulation contains the following sections: I. Objective, scope and definitions; II. Monitoring, inspection, handling and care; III. Living conditions; IV. Miscellaneous provisions. Annex I. Minimum dimensions of buildings, furnishings and equipment. Annex II. Feeding and criteria for undernourishment. The Act contains a general prohibition of the ill treatment of sheep and goats, and lays down duties and responsibilities for keepers of sheep and goats. The Food and Veterinary Authority is entrusted with monitoring the implementation of the Regulation.
