This regulation sets rules on the labelling and traceability of genetically modified food and genetically modified feed in Iceland. It applies to products that contain, consist of, or are produced from genetically modified organisms, including where GMO material is not detectable in the final product, with an exemption for technically unavoidable or adventitious presence up to 0.9%. It requires clear labelling of GM food and feed, written traceability information throughout the supply chain, record-keeping for five years, duties for food and feed businesses to provide evidence where GMO status is questioned, and official supervision by municipal health committees and the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority.
