Abstract
This Regulation sets out minimum requirements for the welfare of minks. Its objective is to ensure the welfare and health of minks with good treatment, care and facilitiess. It provisions are divided in the following Chapters: I. Purpose, scope and definitions; II. Audit and monitoring; III. Treatment and care; IV. Facilities; V. Other provisions. Provisions of this Act concern, among other things, general treatment of minks, exercise, rest and needs, feeding, reproduction, transport, infection control, slaughtering, facilities and accommodation, accident prevention, etc. Violations are subject to sanctions in accordance with the provisions of Act No. 55 on animal welfare and Act No. 25 on animal diseases and measures to control them. The Regulation contains the following Annexes: I. Cage sizes and transport cages; II. Ventilation; III. Evaluation of carcasses and assessment of wounds and injuries.
