Abstract
This Regulation sets out minimum requirements for the welfare of horses. Its objective is to ensure the welfare and health of horses with good treatment, care and facilities. It provisions are divided in the following Chapters: I. Purpose and definitions; II. Audit and monitoring; III. Treatment and care; IV. Facilities; V. Penalties and entry into force. Provisions of this Act concern, among other things, exercise and social behaviour, treatment, riding, training, competitions and shows, feeding, grazing and watering, health, killing, stable conditions, infection controls, etc. Violations of this regulation are subject to sanctions in accordance with the provisions of Act no. 55 on animal welfare. The Regulation contains the following Annexes: I. Audit-required activities; II. Stands and stall sizes, ventilation, and volume of music in stables and competitions; III. Carcass grading.
