Abstract
This Decree has been adopted on the basis of article 39 of Act No. 39 of 2000 on forestry. That provision establishes the adoption of a Regulation on forestry to complement the protective measures laid down in Act No. 39 of 2000 as well as the prescriptions contained in the basin plans referred to in Act No. 183 of 1989.
The Regulation is divided into four Titles. Title II, dealing with the protection of forest areas, lays down provisions governing (i) felling of trees, (ii) pruning, (iii) transformation of forests, (iv) replacement of plant species, (v) phytosanitary protection, (vi) restoration of degraded, damaged and destroyed forests, (vii) protection of truffle areas, and (viii) prevention of fires and fire-fighting activities. Title III lays down further protective measures regading inter alia grazing, maintenance interventions in forest areas and reforestation.
