Regional Act No. 39 on forestry.

This Act regulates interventions in matter of better conservation and enhancement of forests in the Toscana Region, on the valorization of the natural environment and productive resources. For the purposes of the Act a forest is an area with an extension not inferior to 2000 square meters and with a width major to 20 meters. In order to better implement the Act the Region will make an inventory of all the regional forests. The Region will also implement reforestation plans, improve and conserve existing degraded and destroyed forests, conserve and protect forests; assess hydrogeological resources and protect rivers; promote fire-fighting activities and construct new infrastructures. Further the Act sets out detailed provisions for the actions to be taken and for the management of forests, provisions on conversion and substitution of plants, plans for the cut of the plants and specific provisions on different plant species.
