Legislative Decree No. 100 laying down further provisions on the modernization of the fishery and aquaculture sector and the enhancement of surveillance on fishing activities.

The present Decree aims at the sustainable modernization of the fishery and aquaculture sector. Article 14 of Legislative Decree No. 154 of 2004 is replaced by the text laid down in article 1 hereto, which concerns the National Fund for Fishery and Aquaculture. Article 14 bis, dealing with the granting of subsidies, shall be added to the same Legislative Decree (art. 2). With a view to strenghtening surveillance and controls on fishing activities, article 4 provides for the setting up of the Marine Fisheries Department. Lastly, article 7 amends article 408 of the Navigation Code as regards the definition of inshore fishing.
