Legislative Decree No. 154 of 26 May 2004 on the modernization of the fishery and aquaculture sector as per article 1, paragraph 2 of Act No. 38 of 7 March 2003.

In compliance with the principles laid down in Act No. 38 of 2003, this Legislative Decree provides for the modernization, on a sustainable basis, of the fishery and aquaculture sector. Article 2 sets up the “Blue Table”, which shall be in charge of the definition of the principles and objectives of the national fishery and aquaculture policy. The main aims shall be those listed in article 4. On the other side, article 3 establishes the Central Advisory Commission for Fisheries and Aquaculture. Further provisions regard scientific research (art. 9), the local advisory commissions (art. 10), the adoption of plans for the rational exploitation of marine resources (art. 12), the National Fund for Fishery and Aquaculture (art. 14).
