Abstract
Pursuant to Directive 2001/89/EC, this Legislative Decree sets out the minimum measures to be applied in order to combat classical swine fever. The presence and suspected presence of classical swine fever shall be immediately notified to the veterinary service of the competent local health authority. The Ministry of Health shall thereafter inform the European Commission (art. 3). The measures hereby laid down to control the outbreak and spread of classical swine fever include inspections, disinfection and disinfestation, quarantine, creation of surveillance and protection zones. Particular measures are also established with respect to classical swine fever of feral pigs (arts. 15 and 16). Article 19 deals with emergency vaccination of swines, whilst article 20 concerns emergency vaccination of feral pigs. Article 24 sets out administrative sanctions.
