Ministerial Decree amending Inter-Ministerial Decree of 27 December 1991 creating the marine nature reserve "Capo Rizzuto".

Inter-Ministerial Decree of 27 December 1991 is hereby entirely replaced. The present Ministerial Decree, in compliance with the provisions and principles set out in Act No. 979 of 31 December 1982 as well as Act No. 394 of 6 December 1991, provides for the creation of the protected marine area "Capo Rizzuto", which is delimited by the line joining the points referred to in article 3 (including the coastal territories pertaining to the maritime domain). The aims pursued by establishing the marine area are the following: a) the environmental protection of the marine area; b) the protection and the improvement of the biological resources and fish repopulation; c) the promotion of the knowledge of marine and coastal environments; d) the performance of studies and research programmes and activities in the ecological and marine biology fields. Article 4 prohibits all activities which might interfere with the protection of the environmental characteristics of the marine area. The following activites are particularly prohibited: a) hunting; b) the capture, gathering or deterioration of animal and plant species; c) the introduction of weapons, toxic substances and pollutants. The marine area is divided into three zones: zone A (art.5, par. 2); zone B (art.5, par. 3) and zone c (art. 5, par. 10). The Regulation of the protected marine area, to be approved by the Ministry of the Environment, shall be formulated by the Managing Entity within 180 days from the entry into force of the Decree.
