Abstract
The present Decree is divided into two Titles.
Title I makes general provisions regarding hygiene requirements of the materials destined to come into contact with food. It establishes the relevant standards and the tests to be carried out in order to evaluate the safety of the substances employed. The enterprises engaged in the production of such materials have the obligation to control regularly the proper implementation of the provisions of the Decree.
Title II establishes hygiene requirements relevant to the specific substances that may be used for the production of packages, containers and tools destined to come into contact with food or substances for personal use (i.e., plastic, rubber, regenerated cellulose, paper and cardboard, glass, stainless steel).
