Abstract
In compliance with the provisions laid down by Act No. 979 of 31 December 1982, the present Decree has set up the marine protected area “Porto Cesareo” for the following purposes: (a) conservation of wild animal and plant species and promotion of the marine environment of the area concerned; (b) enhancement of studies and research relating to marine biology; (c) performance of educational programmes regarding marine biology. The marine area shall be comprised within the line joining the points referred to in article 2. Furthermore, it shall consist of three different zones: (1) Zone A (Total Reserve); (2) Zone B (General Reserve); (3) Zone C (Partial Reserve). Article 4 specifies the activities which are prohibited or allowed in the above-mentioned areas.
