Presidential Decree No. 229 implementing Directive No. 85/511/EEC on foot-and-mouth disease, according to the amendments to Directive No. 90/423/EEC.

The Decree establishes the measures to be taken in case of an outbreak of the disease, including inspections by the appropriate authorities, the enforcement of quarantine measures, the slaughtering of infected animals and the destruction of the carcasses in order to avoid the spreading of the disease. Moreover, it sets out the modalities for the conservation, distribution, storage and utilization of the vaccine and the registration of the animals that have been vaccinated.
