Abstract
In compliance with the principles and general provisions contained in Act No. 157 of 1992, this Act makes rules governing hunting in the Valle d’Aosta Region and aims at protecting wildlife species (as defined under article 2), giving particular regard to species threatened with extinction. Article 4 lays down the list of mammals and birds which are particularly protected by these provisions. The protection regime is to be defined in the Regional Plan on Wildlife and Hunting Activities (art. 65). The whole regional territory is considered to be Alpine Zone and constitutes a regional reserve (art. 6). Further are laid down provisions concerning, on the one hand, breeding of wild fauna, and, on the other hand, protection oasis, repopulation and capture zones (art. 7) as well as Territorial Hunting Areas (art. 11). The Wildlife Office (art. 13), the Regional Counsel of Wildlife (art. 14) and the Regional Committee for Hunting Management (art. 15) are hereby set up to cooperate with the regional authority in the field of wildlife protection and control of hunting activities. Further provisions regard the introduction of wildlife species for repopulation purposes (art. 23), taxidermy and embalming (art. 26), keeping of trophies (art. 27), allowed hunting gear (art. 29), species that may be hunted and related seasons (art. 30), hunting permit (arts. 33-37) and hunting permit fee (arts. 39). Articles 45 and 46 concern penalties and administrative sanctions respectively.
