Abstract
An Act to make provision for the control of food, anything used for the manufacture, preparation, packing, storing or keeping of any such food, and places and containers that are used for the storage of food, so as to prevent infestations. The Governor-General may from time to time appoint such officers, including inspectors and analysts as appear, to him to be necessary or expedient for the purposes of this Act (sect. 3). Powers and duties of inspectors are outlined in section 4. The Minister may prescribe food or food articles under section 5. If any person, to whom directions are given under section 4 or in pursuance of section 5, fails to comply with any requirement of the directions within the period prescribed thereby, the Minister may, by Order, impose measures outlined in section 6. Every person whose business consists of or includes the manufacture, storage, transport, sale, repair or cleaning of any article to which this Act applies, shall forthwith give notice in writing to the Minister if it comes to his knowledge that any infestation is present (sect. 7).
