The Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation (Amendment) Act, no. 9 of 2019.

This Act provides for amending the Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation Act of 1958 and the Food Storage and Prevention of Infestation Regulations of 1973. Various Sections of the Act are amended by replacing and inserting new definitions concerning: transport; contamination, including: the presence of bacteria, pesticide residues, toxins and pathogenic micro-organisms, any biological, chemical or physical hazard posing a risk to the human health; pesticide application equipment; food; infestation; offences and related penalties.
The attached schedules provide for amending the 1973 Regulations, by inserting the following definitions: pest; food transportation; food storage and labelling of any container. Further amendments concern measures for building where food is kept or sold; certification; measures for business in the food sector.
