Abstract
This Act amends the Protection of Geographical Indications Act, no. 5 of 2004. Amendments concern: insertion of the new definition of Advisory Committee for Geographical Indications; substitution of the definition of goods, with the following: any natural or agricultural product or by-products thereof (including wines and spirits) or any product of industry or handcraft; insertion of a new section concerning the establishment of the Advisory Committee for Geographical Indications and the specification of its roles and responsibilities, including: making recommendation to the Registrar for the acceptance or refusal of an application; replacement of terms concerning intellectual property, and wine and spirits. The Act provides for amending the Protection of Geographical Indications Regulations of 2009, by replacing the same terms and definitions mentioned in the Act.
