Abstract
The text consists of 27 articles and supplementary provisions divided into 5 Chapters: General provisions (I); Plan for the conservation of the Environment of the Seto Inland Sea (II); Special measures for the conservation of the Environment of the Seto Inland Sea (III); Miscellaneous provisions (IV); Penal provisions (V).
Articles of Chapter III are divided into 4 sections: Restriction on the installation of specified facilities (1); Prevention of the occurence of damage from eutrophication (2); Conservation of the natural seashore, etc. (3); Promotion of projects for conservation of environment, etc. (4).
A basic protection plan shall be designed by the national government (art.3) on the basis of which prefectural conservation plans shall be adopted by governors of the prefectures (art.4). Provisions of section 1 of chapter III regulate permits for the installation of specified facilities within the meaning of the Water Pollution Control Law of 1972.
