Abstract
This Act aims to assure sustainable aquaculture production by taking measures to promote the improvement of aquaculture areas to be performed by Fisheries Cooperative Associations, and by taking measures to prevent the spread of specified infectious diseases among farm-raised aquatic animals and plants.
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries shall establish the Basic Policy for assuring sustainable aquaculture production.
The Act further provides for: obligations of persons engaged in aquaculture to report specified diseases; restrictions on the movement of farm-raised aquatic animals and plants; compensation for losses caused by specified diseases; inspection measures; appointment of Fish Epidemic Prevention Officers and Assistants; offences and penalties; etc.
Entry into force notes
This Act enters into force as of the day of its promulgation except for articles 8-13 and 17-20 which enter into force on a day specified by Cabinet Order within a period not exceeding 6 months from the day of promulgation.
