Abstract
These Rules declare that cashew nuts shall come under the operation of the Crop Production and Livestock Act and regulate the growing of cashew nut and the processing and marketing of cashew nuts. The 31 rules are divided into 5 Parts.
Buying of unprocessed cashew nuts requires the possession of a valid licence to be granted by the District Commissioner of the district concerned. A separate licence shall be required in respect of every place at which unprocessed cashew nuts are bought. The Director of Agriculture may fix and vary the minimum price to be paid to growers for unprocessed cashew nuts and may fix different prices for different areas. No person shall export unprocessed cashew nuts without the permission in writing of the Director of Agriculture. Inspectors appointed by the Director may inspect cashew trees. Certain requirements regarding growing of cashew trees and the processing of cashew nuts are imposed by these Rules. Cashew nuts shall be inspected prior to being placed on the market.
