Abstract
These Regulations, among other things implement provisions of the Fisheries Act. The 59 regulations are divided into 12 Parts: Preliminary (Part I, regs. 1 to 2); Registration of local fishing vessels (II, regs. 3 to 8); Licensing of fishermen, etc. (III, regs. 9 to 28); Administration of licences, permits and certificate of registration (IV, regs. 29 to 39); Notices in the Gazette (V, reg. 40); General management measures (VI, regs. 41 to 53); Trout fishing (VII, regs. 54 to 56); Importation of live fish (VIII, reg. 57); Restriction of purchase of fish (IX, reg. 58); Prevention of pollution and protection and conservation of fishery waters (X, regs. 59 to 62); Private marks for fishing gear (XI, regs. 63 to 66); Enforcement provisions (XII, regs. 67 to 69).
Part II also provides for the marking of fishing vessels. Licences available under provisions of part III include general fisherman's licence, sport fisherman's licence, shell collector's licence and shell dealer's licence. Permits include a fish movement permit, life fish movement permit, fish export and import permit. Forms of licences and permits can be found in the First Schedule. Part VI provides for fishing in inland waters, use of fishing gear, landing of fish, buoying of fishing gear, protection of breeding areas and protection of marine mammals and turtles, and the requirement to provide data by licence or permit holders.
