Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 208(2)(o) of the Fisheries Management and Development Act, apply to any person, vessel or other craft undertaking any fishing or a fishing related activity in inland fishery waters. The Regulations concern the following terms and definitions: anadromous fish; artisanal fisher; catadromous fish; fishing trip; inland fishery waters; potamodromous fish; ornamental fisher; semi-industrial fisher; protected area; registration certificate. These Regulations provide for: promoting the realisation of economic benefits from Kenya inland fishery resources; using fees and other charges for promoting development of artisanal fishers; improving management and conservation of inland fishery resources; strengthening monitoring, control and surveillance within Kenya inland fishery waters. Matters covered by these Regulations include: registration certificate of artisanal and semi-industrial inland fishing vessel; licensing of artisanal fishers; freshwater ornamental fishing licence; conservation and management measures; landing; protection of species; maximum and minimum landing size of fish; allowed fishing methods.
