Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 208(2)(e) of the Fisheries Management and Development Act, apply to the control of the safety and quality of fish, fish products and fish feeds in order to safeguard human and animal health. The Regulations concern the following matters: aquaculture facility; aquaculture products; bivalve molluscs; certification; competent authority; control verification procedures; designated fish landing stations; diseased fish; disinfection; fish feed; fishery enterprise; fish product; frozen product; freezer vessel; hazard; packaging; placing on the market; potable water; processed products; risk assessment; traceability; veterinary drug; veterinary officer. Matters covered by these Regulations include: official control by the competent authority, based on food safety risks assessment; technical committee on fish quality and safety; conduct of business and affairs of the committee; functions of inspectors, including: assessment of fisheries enterprises with regard to: good hygiene practices, water quality, training in hygiene and in work procedures, hazard analysis critical control point system; official control of enterprises; official control of landing, handling and movement of fish products; health conditions for production and placing on the market; use of pharmaceuticals, drugs, antibiotics, in aquaculture; general conditions concerning export and import of fish, fish products and fish feed; standard for accredited laboratories.
