Abstract
This Classification defines organizational and legal norms of assessment of emergency situations by their severity and regulates relations arising in the course of activities of Civil Protection authorities. Emergency situations are classified according to the following criteria: (a) by the number of victims; (b) by the amount of economic damage; (c) by the number of population with disrupted life activities. Emergency situations are subdivided by the nature of their manifestation into: (a) natural emergencies (disasters); (b) technogenic emergencies (disasters); (c) ecological emergencies (disasters); (d) biological and social emergencies; and (e) conflict situations.
