Inter-ministerial Prakas 4828 on the amendment of article 3 of inter-ministerial Prakas no. 191, dated April 26, 2016, on the classification of environmental impact assessments for all types of construction mining business projects or other mining projects that are craft or small-scale businesses

This Inter-ministerial Prakas by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, updates environmental impact assessment requirements for small-scale mining. Projects spanning one hectare or less must now secure an Environmental Protection Contract (EPC) approved by provincial environmental departments to obtain a mining license. However, very small operations on private land, such as soil pits under 0.5 hectares, are exempt from the EPC requirement. Instead, owners must submit a Letter of Guarantee pledging to manage waste, prevent dust, and ensure site safety.
