Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 51 of the Bureau of Standards and Quality Act, no. 19 of 2021, provide that any goods within or being imported into Saint Christopher and Nevis shall be in conformity with the Standards for labelling of goods. The Regulations define the following relevant terms: goods, as any commodity, article, product, food, food products or thing, which is the subject of trade or commerce; label and labelling; packaging. The Regulations apply to all goods which are marketed for sale or distribution in Saint Christopher and Nevis, and concern: powers of inspectors; penalties following a contravention; identification of competent authority; general requirements for labelling, including: description of the goods and adequate information on description of components of the goods, size, weight, appropriate operating and safety instructions, in case of risk to the health and safety of a consumer; measures for labelling of transported goods; prevention of deception and fraud.
