Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to prevent damage to the Baekdu-daegan caused by indiscriminate development by prescribing matters necessary for protecting the Mountain Range, thereby helping preserve national land in an environmentally sound manner and creating a pleasant natural environment.
The Minister of Environment shall set the principles and standards for the establishment of a basic plan for the protection of the Baekdudaegan and for the designation of Baekdudaegan Protection Areas.
The Act further provides for: activities restricted within protected areas; land purchase within protected areas; penal provisions; etc.
