Abstract
This Act contributes to the conservation of national land and the enhancement of the quality of citizens’ life by controlling forest conservation zones, conducting preventive observation of forest diseases and pests and taking control measures against them, preventing and fighting forest fires, keeping forests healthier, and by protecting forests systematically.
The Act provides for the designation of forest conservation zones to protect particular forests and restricts certain activities within these zones. It further provides for the designation and management of protected trees, forest cleanup zones, restricted zones and ecological woods.
The Minister of the Korea Forest Service shall: establish and implement a long-term nationwide plan for preventive observation and control measures against forest diseases and pests; designate an area as a special pest control zone against forest diseases and pests; establish long-term measures for the prevention of forest fires; etc.
