Abstract
This Act defines territorial sea and internal waters and makes provision for innocent passage of foreign ships. Fishing by foreign ships in the territorial sea is in all cases considered "to be prejudicial to the peace, public order or the security of the Republic of Korea". The boundary with States with opposite or adjacent coasts shall be formed by the median line, unless agreed otherwise between the parties involved.
The Act further defines powers of the competent authority in contiguous zones, established under the Act with a breadth of twenty-four nautical miles, and prescribes penalties.
