Law No. 94 of 1983 concerning the establishment of the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAFR).

Type of law

This Law establishes the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources in Kuwait and consists of 11 articles. Purpose of the Authority is to act on agricultural development involving and expanding its plant and animal sectors and to protect and develop the fish wealth. These objectives will be pursued by a series of steps, including: a proper use of land and water for agricultural purposes; organization and supervision of fishing operations; expanding the agricultural area in the country and a re-distributing the reclaimed land to farmers as compensation for the previous confiscation by the State; carrying out studies and research, preparing experiments and establishing model farms; providing guidance to achieve increased production; developing the apiculture and encouraging the food industry related to agricultural activity.
Articles 3 6 concern composition, powers and duties of the Board of Directors, while article 7 deals with the budget of the Authority. Article 5 specifies, inter alia, that the Board determines supports for farmers, animal breeders and fishermen within the limits of the resolutions issued by the Council of Ministers.
The Public Authority works also on supporting production and marketing of local agricultural and animal products and articles 5and 8 regulate the aid system.
