Abstract
This Decision, issued by the Department of Forestry Inspection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, approves and promulgates guidelines aimed at strengthening coordination and cooperation within the law enforcement network on aquatic animals, wildlife, and forestry (LAO-WEN).
The Decision is based on existing legislation on aquatic and wildlife resources and forestry, and seeks to improve effectiveness in addressing related crimes and illegal activities. It mandates the coordination body of the law enforcement network to lead implementation of the approved guidelines in cooperation with relevant central and local authorities. It requires all concerned sectors and levels to participate and support coordinated actions to combat offences related to aquatic animals, wildlife, and forest resources. In addition, it encourages cooperation with regional networks like the ASEAN Wildlife Enforcement Network (ASEAN-WEN) and international bodies to address transborder trafficking.
