Abstract
This Law is composed of 9 articles: competencies and duties of the Ministry of Environment: preparation of the general environmental policy, pollution fighting, treatment of waste, licences, conditions of water use, protection of animals, environmental education and information, approval of international environmental agreements, disasters fighting (art. 1); creation of nature reserves (art. 3); article 14 of Law 64 of 12 August 1988 is now abrogated (art. 8).
