Abstract
This regulation on groundwater protection establishes specific water protection zones along the Rhine, where activities that could harm groundwater quantity or quality or endanger public water supply are prohibited. These restrictions include bans on constructing wastewater facilities, fuel storage and transfer sites, groundwater heat pumps, wastewater pipelines, gravel pits, and most landfills, with some exceptions for agricultural uses and public-interest projects that demonstrate site necessity. Existing buildings and installations within these zones are subject to special environmental oversight, and no expansion of building zones is allowed except under strict conditions. The environmental office supervises compliance, with penalties for violations, and municipalities assist in enforcement. The regulation aims to safeguard groundwater resources by controlling land use and development in designated protection areas. The text consists of 8 Articles.
