Abstract
The present Act aims to protect: a) the aquatic environment from adverse impacts and to ensure their sustainable use; b) the management of water-bodies from an integral point of view; c) the coordination of water management in the international framework. In particular, the purpose of the Act is to protect: a) the health of humans, animals and plants; b) the maintenance of groundwater and spring water in its natural state and its thrifty use as potable and service water; c) the conservation and restoration of natural habitats in and around the water for the native flora and fauna; d) the conservation of water as landscape elements. Moreover, the purpose of the Act is to transpose into national legislation the Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a framework for Community action in the field of water policy of 23 October 2000. The text consists of 52 articles divided into 11 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); sewage disposal (II); Disposal of sewage sludge (III); Use of fertilizers (IV); Use of plant protection products (V); Requirements for farms with livestock farming (VI); Planned protection of water bodies (VII); Prevention and elimination of other adverse in-effects on water bodies (VIII); Organization and implementation (IX); Penal provisions (X); Transitional and final provisions (XI). The text has 6 Annexes.
