Abstract
No person shall catch, land, transport, sell, buy, receive or have in his possession any marine mammals or turtles. The following fishing operations are hereby prohibited: (i) push net fishing operations; (ii) harpooning for marine mammals; (iii) moxi net fishing operations; (iv) gill net or trammel net fishing operations on coral reefs or rocks. No person shall engage in, or cause any other person to engage in, any fishing operations specified in Part I of the Schedule, in the sea, estuaries or coastal lagoons of Sri Lanka except under authority of a licence issued under these Regulations and in accordance with terms and conditions attached to such licence. Applications for licences shall be in Form A and licences granted by the Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources shall be in Form B set out in the Schedule. (6 regulations and a Schedule)
