Forest (Amendment) Act, 2009 (Act No. 65 of 2009).

This Act amends the Forest Ordinance 1907.
Amendments include: substitution of the Long Title with a new one and minor word changes throughout the Act; replacement of the heading of Chapter II with the words “Of Reserved and Conservation Forests”; insertion of new subsections in sections 3 and 3A on matters related to reserved forests and conservation forests; minor word changes to section 3D, 5, 22, 36, 38A and 67; substitution of sections 6 and 7 with new sections concerning acts prohibited in conservation and reserved forests; repeal of sections 7A, 9, 21 and 77; substitution of section 20 with a new section on acts prohibited in any forest other than a conservation, reserved or village forest; insertion of a new Chapter IVA on procedures for obtaining a Certificate of Registration and a permit; minor changes to the regulation making powers of the Minister in section 24; insertion of a new section 24A on the application of the Customs Ordinance; changes to section 25 on penalties; substitution of various provisions in section 26 and 27 with new provisions on powers of Government Agents to order a definition of boundaries, powers of forest officers to examine timber in transit and the inspection of private timber depots; substitution of sections 37, 40, 47, 48 A, 52 and 53 with new sections on penalties and procedures; minor changes to the fines of section 55; substitution of sections 58 and 59 with new ones providing for the appointment of forest officers; substitution of section 64 with a new section on regulations; insertion of new sections 64A and 64B on the Forest Department Fund; insertion of a new section 67A; substitution of section 78 with a new section on definitions; and substitution of Schedules III and IV with new Schedules.
