Abstract
This Act, consisting of 213 sections divided into eleven Parts, provides for the Intellectual Property and for an Efficient Procedure for the related Registration, Control and Administration. It regulates the certification of any invention/patent, preventing within Sri Lanka the commercial exploitation of which is necessary to protect the public order, morality including the protection of human, animal or plant life or health or the avoidance of serious prejudice to the environment. Any interested party shall be entitled to prevent: the use of any means in the designation or presentation of goods that indicates or suggests that the goods including agricultural products, food, wine or spirit in question originated in a geographical area other than the true place of origin in a manner which misleads the public as to the geographical origin of goods, etc.
