Intellectual Property (Amendment) Act, No. 8 of 2022.

This Act amends the Intellectual Property Act, 2003 (principal Act). Sections 2, 4, 101 and 160 are amended. New sections 160A, 161A, 161B, 161C, 161D and 161E are inserted in Chapter XXXIII of Part IX of the principal Act relating to Geographical Indication (G.I.). New Chapters XXXIIIA, XXXIIIB, XXXIIIC, XXXIIID and XXXIIIE are added which contain provisions for issue of certificate of registration, register of G.I., rights of registered owners of G.I., and foreign G.I.s. Further, sections 162, 168, 170, 172 and 212 are amended. A new section 186A for offences relating G.I.s is added after section 186 of the principal Act.
