Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to regulate the production and treatment of radioactive minerals and substances.
The Act specifies the functions of the Minister who shall: have the power to explore for the purpose of discovering minerals from which prescribed substances can be obtained; have the exclusive right to prospect for, mine and remove minerals from which any prescribed substance can be obtained, and compulsorily acquire any of the prescribed substances; and prohibit the mining, production, treatment and transport of minerals except under the authority of a licence. Offences and penalties are also provided for in the Act.
