Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Geological Survey and Mines bureau and defines its internal organization. Powers and functions of the Bureau include: collecting, exploring, promoting and analyzing the country's mineral resources; regulating the exploration and mining for minerals and the processing, trading in and export of such minerals by the issue of licences; and advising the Minister on measures to be adopted for the promotion of the extraction and production of minerals.
The Act further provides for: the Fund of the Bureau; ownership of minerals; restrictions on the issue of licences to explore for, mine, transport, process, trade in or export any minerals; closed reserved areas; rights and obligation of licence holders; health, safety and welfare of mine workers; offences and penalties; etc.

An Act to provide for the establishment of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau to regulate AMP; the exploration for, mining, transportation, processing, trading in or export of, minerals; for the transfer to such Bureau of the functions of the Department of Geological Survey for the repeal of the Salt Ordinance (Chapter 211), the Radioactive Minerals Act, No. 46 of 1968 and the Mines and Minerals Law, No. 4 of 1973; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
