Abstract
These Regulations are framed in exercise of powers under section 20 read together with sub-section 4(1) and Section 14 of the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, No. 1 of 1969. These Regulations shall be applicable for importation of goods specified in Schedule I(A), which arrive at any ports/airports of Sri Lanka on or after May 17, 2024 and importation of goods specified in Schedule I(B), which arrived on or after November 16, 2024. The goods mentioned in schedules I(A) and I(B) must conform to the standards mentioned therein. The documentation required for such imports are laid down and sample testing is required to be carried out before custom clearance. The goods that do not conform to the standards must be re-exported to the exporting country within 90 days. These Regulations contain provisions in respect of sale and distribution of goods imported, non-compliance of standards, and other related matters.
