Abstract
The purpose of state control over land use shall be to ensure compliance with the acting legislation regulating land use. State control over land use shall be exercised by the National Land Services officials appointed by the Head of the Ministry of Economy. Land use inspections shall be carried out in accordance with the manual of approved rules and regulations of the National Land Service setting out the procedure and duration of inspections. An annual land management plan shall be drawn up and approved by the head of the National Land Service. In the annual plan of the National Land Service for territories shall be specified the number and priorities of scheduled land use inspections of land plots and land areas subject to inspection. Annual plan shall be approved by 1 March each year. Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania gives recommendations regarding the implementation of state control over land use in the current year; supplies information on abandoned agricultural land; lists violations of land use identified during previous land use inspections; and expresses proposals and recommendations on land use submitted by other public administration entities that exercise state control over land use. In the process of state control shall be verified compliance with specific land use, compliance with the established servitudes, application of land conservation and land rehabilitation provisions to disturbed land and application of soil protection measures against erosion and degradation.
