Law No. IX-966 “On hunting”.

This Law regulates the protection, management and use of game resources and hunting in the Republic of Lithuania. It establishes the legal status of game animals, defines hunting-related concepts, determines hunting rights and the use of hunting resources, and sets out the principles governing hunting activities, hunting grounds and the administration of hunting.
The Law provides for the formation and management of hunting grounds units and establishes the procedure for granting and exercising the right to use game resources. It regulates the rights and obligations of hunting grounds users, hunters and landowners, and sets conditions relating to hunting permits, hunting documentation, hunting equipment and methods, and the keeping of game in enclosures.
The Law assigns responsibilities to governmental and environmental authorities in relation to hunting management, game resource protection, monitoring and supervision. It contains provisions concerning game population management, measures for improving habitat conditions, the circulation of hunting equipment, and the organization and regulation of hunting activities in accordance with established requirements.
The Law further regulates liability and compensation for damage caused by game animals and hunting activities, including damage to agricultural land, forests and other property. It also contains provisions relating to the protection of game resources, restrictions on hunting in certain territories, and the prevention of unlawful hunting, while establishing procedures for the implementation and enforcement of hunting legislation.
