Government Decree No. 558 “On urgent measures in the phytosanitary area to prevent import and spreading in the Republic of Moldova of certain organisms that are harmful to plants, plant products and other related objects falling under the quarantine phytosanitary regime”.

This Government Decree sets forth urgent measures in the phytosanitary area for the prevention of introduction and spreading pest Anoplophora chinensis (Forster). The phytosanitary control body together with the forestry authority annually conducts official checks on the presence of Anoplophora chinensis (Forster) and on the detection of signs of infection by this pest on the national territory. Exact delimitation of the restriction zones will be carried out on the basis of deep scientific principles, the biology of Anoplophora chinensis (Forster), the level of infection, the specific distribution of these plants in the area to be tested, and evidence of the establishment of a pest. At the first detection of an organism in a certain zone and after a demarcation survey, the radius of the buffer zone can be reduced to one kilometer from the boundary of the zone of infection. When confirming the presence of Anoplophora chinensis (Forster) outside the zone of infection, the boundaries of the zone change in accordance with the results of enhanced monitoring of the presence of this organism through appropriate monitoring or taking urgent measures to destroy it in order to give the buffer zone the status of a zone free from this organism. In the contaminated zone, the necessary measures will be taken to destroy Anoplophora chinensis (Forster), including deforestation and destruction of infected plants and plants with signs of infection of Anoplophora chinensis (Forster), including roots, annually until April 30.
