Government Resolution No. HG492/2023 validating the Regulation on the granting of direct payments in the sector animal husbandry from the National Development Fund of agriculture and the rural areas.

This Regulation establishes special eligibility conditions, terms and procedures for the provision of direct payments to livestock farmers. By providing direct payments to the livestock sector from the National Fund for Agriculture and Rural Development, the following goals are achieved: (a) revival of the livestock sector; (b) increasing the average productivity of agricultural enterprises; (c) cultivation, reproduction and improvement of breeds and exploitation of animals in agricultural enterprises; (d) improving the standard of living in rural areas; (e) adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its impact on agricultural production. Direct payments per animal head are paid to owners of the following types of animals: (a) cattle (Bos taurus); (b) sheep (Ovis aries); (c) goats (Capra hircus); (d) horses (Equus ferus caballus). Direct payment is provided to livestock breeders for animals registered and kept on livestock farms - at least 3 months old, kept in a herd of at least 5 heads of heifers, 50 heads of sheep and lambs specialized in milk production, 30 heads of sheep and lambs specialized in meat production, 30 heads of goats and female goats, 5 heads of mares, stallions and foals kept in farms certified in the breeding category or registered in pedigree books.
