Governmental Decree No. HG624/2020 validating the Requirements of meat products.

This Governmental Decree establishes quality requirements for meat products, including packaging, labelling and transportation of meat products of national origin and imported meat products. These Requirements shall not be applicable to products manufactured in an individual farm for their own consumption, to meat products produced at catering establishments, to products and foodstuffs with meat content no more than 5%. This Governmental Decree classifies meat products by the type of processing and meat content. The main tasks of producers of meat intended for sale for the purpose of human consumption, shall be protection of consumers’ health, quality assurance and good practices. Food quality and safety are achieved and controlled with the use of management systems and practices based on a set of standards to ensure systematic prevention of potential hazards and reporting of information, allowing to identify the company, production team, production date, batch of products, quantity of products, type and quality of products. Producers of meat products shall maintain records that allow identify the product within three years, and, if necessary, provide documentary evidence of compliance with the quality requirements established by these Requirements.
