Abstract
This National Implementation Plan outlines Moldova's strategy for implementing the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). It provides an overview of the country's current situation regarding POPs, including inventories of POP pesticides, PCBs, POP-PBDEs, PFOS and unintentionally produced POPs. The plan describes Moldova's legal and institutional framework for managing POPs and proposes actions for 2023-2030 to reduce and eliminate POPs. Key measures include strengthening regulations, ensuring environmentally sound management of POP pesticides and PCBs, managing POP-PBDEs in products and waste, reducing unintentional POP releases, addressing contaminated sites, improving information exchange and public awareness, and enhancing monitoring and research capacities. The plan aims to protect human health and the environment from POPs while meeting Moldova's obligations under the Stockholm Convention.
