National Program for Gender Equality 2010-2015.

National Program for Gender Equality 2010-2015 is a multisectoral policy document, which provides a comprehensive approach to integrating the principle of equality between women and men in policy documents in all areas and at all levels of decision-making and implementation. The purpose of this Program is to ensure the promotion of gender equality in economic, political and social life, which is the basis for observing the fundamental human rights of all citizens of the country.
The need to develop this National Program is caused by obvious difficulties in ensuring equality between women and men, as well as the need to implement multisectoral policy documents that take into account the excellent needs of women and men in society, which will reduce the existing imbalance in the context of national efforts to eradicate poverty and public sector reform as a means of promoting and guaranteeing fundamental human rights. Implementation of the actions of the National Program will be carried out at the expense and within the budgets of the institutions/bodies indicated in the action plans for the relevant years, as well as from other sources in accordance with the law.
This National Program is aimed at establishing and providing opportunities, conditions and methods for the effective implementation of gender equality in the Republic of Moldova.
The main objectives of the National Program shall be as follows: (a) determination of the concept and substantiation of state policy in the field of gender equality as a determining factor in ensuring the sustainable development of the country and creating adequate conditions for improving the quality of life of people; (b) the introduction of the principle of equality between women and men in politicians in all fields and at all levels of decision-making and application; (c) providing mechanisms for implementing the existing regulatory framework in this area; (d) ensuring effective management of gender equality at the national and local levels; (e) public awareness of the need to prevent and eliminate prejudices, gender stereotypes and conditions that create discriminatory situations on the basis of gender; (f) stimulating analytical inter- / trans-disciplinary activities in the field of gender equality; and (g) developing dialogue and partnerships between public authorities, civil society and other stakeholders.
Specific tasks shall be set forth as follows: (a) increasing employment among women and narrowing the gender pay gap; (b) elimination of all forms of discrimination in the labor market on the basis of sex; (c) promoting the economic consolidation of women in rural areas; and (d) mainstreaming gender into health policy.
