Abstract
The main objectives of this Montenegrin Bathing water quality testing Program are to protect the health of bathers and educate the general public, manage beaches in terms of preserving their natural values and sustainable use, monitor the construction of sewage systems as well as the functioning of existing ones, identify sources of pollution and their remediation, and publish the results of the quality of sea, lake and river waters. Bathing water quality testing includes field observations and laboratory tests. During sampling, basic meteorological, hydrological, and water appearance-related data are entered: visible pollution, observation of the possible presence of cyanobacteria, water temperature and air status. Systematic testing of bathing water includes physical-chemical and microbiological testing over the effective properties of surface water that point to the potential risk of infectious diseases during use surface waters for recreation.
